President Donald Trump told Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday that he is ready to help end the conflict in Ukraine.  He called the end of hostilities "vital" during a conversation between the two leaders, which lasted nearly an hour, according to a statement from Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yuri ‌Ushakov, Reuters reported. 

California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom said Monday he's under a Justice Department investigation that is targeting him for his presidential ambitions. "Today, my wife & I joined Donald Trump’s hit list. He has directed his Department of Justice to investigate us," Newsom posted on X. 

Most Americans overwhelmingly support more artificial intelligence regulations, according to a Johns Hopkins University survey released Monday. The university’s latest poll shows that over 70% of Americans want the right to interact with a human being rather than AI technology in medical, legal, educational and government settings.

President Donald Trump said he will not support the extension of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act unless it includes his voter ID bill, the SAVE America Act. “A few Dumocrats are against FISA, with or without Bill Pulte going to DNI, as Acting,” he wrote on Truth Social Sunday afternoon. “What kind of a deal is that. Besides, I’m against FISA if it doesn’t come with The Save America Act (Full version!) firmly attached to it.”

Metro Nashville on Friday confirmed receipt of the request filed by The Tennessee Star pursuant to the Tennessee Public Records Act (TPRA), seeking records explaining the purpose of the nearly $1.5 million in proposed grants in the 2027 budget released by Mayor Freddie O'Connell for the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition (TIRRC) and Tennessee Justice for Our Neighbors (TNJFON), which both support illegal aliens living in the Volunteer State. The budget proposed last month includes a $735,000 grant for TIRRC and $718,000 for TNJFON. While a spokesman for O'Connell told The Star the grant for TIRRC would not support lawyers for illegal aliens, the Metro Clerk Austin Kyle told The Star on Monday that the new grant only represented a change in funding source but otherwise extensions of its previous grant, which was signed in 2022 and is set to expire on June 30.

The Justice Department's Antitrust Division approved Friday the $111 billion merger between Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery, clearing a major regulatory hurdle for one of the most watched sales in recent years. The two companies signed the paperwork for the deal in February, which will see Paramount acquire Warner Bros., but it still needs final approval from the Trump administration before it can go through.

President Donald Trump has issued 266 executive orders in his second term but only 70 have been codified into law, according to Mark Meadows, a White House chief of staff in the first Trump administration and a former North Carolina GOP congressman. “That’s a start, but Congress needs to double the effort!!!” Meadows wrote in a post on X this week, noting that 196 of Trump’s Executive Orders were not yet codified into law.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard declassified intelligence about a constellation of biological laboratories in Ukraine on Friday, four years after members of Congress and biodefense officials criticized her for expressing concerns about them. The new documents reveal two dozen biological labs in Ukraine. The map reveals that a lab in Odessa, a city with a population of more than one million people, has a lab with stored biological weapons from the defunct Soviet Union biological weapons program. Viruses in storage include anthrax, tularemia, tuberculosis, Swine Fever, New Castles Disease, MERS, SARS, Marburg, Ebola, Lassa, the Plague, and Rickettsia, the documents show.

Meta announced Monday that it is launching a new free program to train U.S. workers for data center construction jobs. The technology giant has pledged to invest $115 million in the first year of the initiative, dubbed “America’s Workforce Academy,” which will include a four-week training program and guaranteed job offers for graduates of the program. The program will begin in Indiana, Louisiana, Ohio and Texas in 2026.
