Tennessee’s nonfarm monthly employment went down 56,800 in January, according to the Tennessee Labor Market Report.

The report notes employment is up 3,300 year-over-year.

The employment estimates are a count of jobs by place of employment.

The news comes as Tennessee saw the county unemployment rate rise in 93 of 95 counties in January as the overall seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in the state rose to 3.5 percent in January, below the 3.7 percent nationwide average.

A monthly economic analysis from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development previously stated that Tennessee’s total nonfarm employment increased by 9,900 jobs in January.

Those numbers were based on seasonally adjusted numbers.
