President Joe Biden met with State Rep Gloria Johnson and former State Reps Justin Jones and Justin Pearson via video conference Friday.
The meeting comes on the heels of the expulsion proceedings that claimed the short-lived terms of Democrat State Reps. Jones and Pearson, but spared the long-serving State Rep. Gloria Johnson.
“Earlier today, I spoke to Reps. Jones, Pearson, and Johnson to thank them for their leadership and courage in the face of a blatant disregard of our nation’s democratic values,” Biden said in a social media post Friday evening.
“Our country needs to take action on gun violence — and to do that we need more voices like theirs speaking out,” the post concluded.
Vice President Kamala Harris announced she would also meet with the trio in Tennessee. Harris reportedly spoke at Fisk University to “show support for the Tennessee lawmakers,” ActionNews5 reported.
