A new poll shows that a staggeringly low percentage of adults in the Gen Z generation express pride in being Americans, with only 16 percent saying that they love their country.

As reported by the Daily Caller, the Morning Consult survey focused on adult members of Generation Z, also known as “Zoomers,” between the ages of 18 and 25. With only 16 percent saying that they were proud to be Americans, they are by far the least-patriotic generation. In the same poll, Millennials were revealed to be the second-lowest, with only 36 percent saying they were proud to be Americans.

By contrast, Generation X and Baby Boomers overwhelmingly expressed pride in America, at 54 percent and 73 percent, respectively.

The survey also revealed that Zoomers have significantly lower trust in government institutions than past generations. Furthermore, while they expressed a greater willingness to boycott American companies and organizations due to being insufficiently liberal, they were “less likely to single out unethical overseas practices as a reason to change their purchasing habits.”

In its conclusion, Morning Consult speculated that the discrepancy may be due to the fact that younger generations “may not want to see the United States — and by extension, U.S. companies — acting as arbiters of global ethics.”

The overwhelmingly leftward lean of Generation Z’s politics are widely considered to have played a major role in the surprisingly poor performance by the GOP in last year’s midterms. An exit poll from CNN went viral after revealing that Gen Z voters supported Democrats by a 28-point margin, a far greater political imbalance than any other generation.
