A poll published Friday by Beacon Research, found that Governor Brian Kemp (R) has extended his lead over Democrat nominee for Governor, Stacey Abrams, by eight points.

“I’m not surprised about his lead over Abrams. I know for a fact a lot of people are disgusted about the Democrat policies,” Barrow County GOP Executive Committee Rep. Laura Petcu (04) told The Georgia Star News on Friday.

The poll results said Gov. Kemp (R) garnered 51% of the tally while Abrams (D) received 43%.

A poll previously reported on Thursday by The Star News showed Kemp with just a single point lead.

GA-07 Republican nominee Mark Gonsalves spoke with The Star News on Friday about the gubernatorial race.

“Georgians know Brian Kemp is the most qualified to steer our State through these difficult times brought on by Biden’s Recession and the Democrat agenda,” Gonsalves said.

Gonsalves, whose opponent is Lucy McBath (D-GA-06), brought up Kemp’s efforts to help public sector workers.

“Brian [Kemp] is creating jobs, returning taxpayer money from our surplus, honoring our teachers, police and early responders by his actions while keeping Georgia the #1 State to do business. He clearly deserves re-election over Biden-enabler, Stacey Abrams.”

DeKalb County GOP Chair Marci McCarthy also spoke with The Star News on Friday.

“For the majority of Georgians, Stacey Abrams has gone too far to the left. Brian Kemp continues to put Georgians’ Lives and Livelihoods first. I expect to see the polls continue to favor our Governor especially as the economy is the #1 concern,” McCarthy said.

Buckhead City Committee CEO Bill White spoke with The Georgia Star News about the gubernatorial race, and brought up Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens as well.

“The Buckhead City Committee fully endorses Governor Brian Kemp and looks forward to his winning re-election on November 8th. The Governor has had to send the State Patrol into Buckhead to help the city with their lackluster efforts to fight skyrocketing violent crime,” White said.

White called out the Georgia capital city mayor for his city’s crime rate.

“11Alive reported this week you’re more likely to be murdered, robbed or home invaded in Atlanta than in Chicago. So we applaud Governor Kemp and thank him for doing Mayor Andre Dickens job for him,” White said. “We thank Governor Kemp for giving us some desperately needed help that APD cannot provide us due to Atlanta defunding, not backing, and not loving our police families.”
