In an exclusive obtained by The Tennessee Star, former Speaker of the Tennessee House of Representatives Beth Harwell says that “Joe Biden is destroying America,” in her latest television ad for the August 4 Republican primary in the race for Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District seat.
The ad begins with a voiceover from a narrator that says, “Chaos at the border, crime in our neighborhoods, runaway inflation – Joe Biden is destroying America.”
The narrator continues, saying, “Had enough? Beth Harwell will stop Biden’s socialist agenda. Harwell is Tennessee tough. She cut our taxes and stopped illegals from getting driver’s licenses.”
“In Congress, Harwell will build Trump’s wall, fund the police, and fight inflation,” the ad said.
“Conservative Beth Harwell will restore America’s greatness,” the ad concludes.
Previously reported, Harwell’s first first television ad called on Congress to finish former President Donald Trump’s wall, fight for tougher penalties on criminals, and ban sanctuary cities.
The campaign statement on that ad said, “The ad comes off Beth’s visit to the southern border in May, where she gained firsthand experience of the problems that can arise with reckless policies at the border.”
The first ad began with Beth standing in front of the border wall, saying, “America’s illegal immigration crisis starts here at our southern border, but it ends in our own backyards …”
Harwell then goes on to say in her first ad, “In Congress, I’ll fight to finish President Trump’s wall, fight for tougher penalties on criminals, and ban sanctuary cities.”
The Harwell campaign previously released an 8-point plan to secure the border. Her plan calls for finishing Trump’s wall, keeping Title 42 in place, expanding on the American Governors’ Border Strike Force, hiring more border patrol, stopping sanctuary cities, making sure localities work with ICE, ending catch-and-release, and continuing the Remain in Mexico policy.
Harwell visited the U.S. southern border on May 26, making her the first TN-5 candidate to make that trip.
In a statement released alongside her border plan in June, Harwell said, “America’s illegal immigration crisis starts at our southern border, but it ends in our own backyards. The soaring numbers of crime, human trafficking, opioids, and fentanyl are the result of reckless policies coming from the Biden administration.”
Harwell additionally said that Biden’s policies “have created a national security issue at the southern border. Just last year.”
