A new poll from business intelligence firm Morning Consult showed that Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers is “underwater” with voters as the November election draws closer.

More individuals disapprove of his job performance than those who support it. Specifically, 48 percent of residents in the state express their disapproval, while only 45 say they approve of the performance.

The new data could signal trouble for Evers as he prepares to take on the winner of the GOP gubernatorial primary contest. Compared to all other governors up for re-election around the country, Evers ranked the lowest.

“Among the 28 governors up for re-election this fall, just one – Democrat Tony Evers of Wisconsin – is viewed more negatively than positively by voters in his state: 45 percent of Wisconsin voters approve of his job performance, compared to 48 percent who disapprove,” Morning Consult explained.

In the election year, Evers has been blasted by Republicans for lack of action amid an extended crime spike and allowing schools to prolong remote learning for students. He also recently vetoed bills passed by the legislature to enhance school choice.

“Time and again, ‘Teachers’ Union Tony Evers’ has rejected the rights of parents and refused opportunities for Wisconsin kids to obtain a quality education,” said Republican Party of Wisconsin Communications Director Anna Kelly. “School performance has plummeted under Tony Evers’ failed leadership, and Wisconsinites deserve a governor who serves kids and parents – not liberal special interests and teachers’ union donors.”

Evers is followed closely behind by two other Democratic governors: Michigan’s Gretchen Whitmer and New Mexico’s Michelle Lujan Grisham. The duo narrowly boast a higher approval rating than disapproval. Whitmer sits at 50 percent approval, 46 disapproval. Grisham holds 48 percent approval, compared to 45 percent disapproval.

The information also explained that no “single Democrat ranked among the 10 most popular governors.”
