Georgia officials have openly denounced President Joe Biden’s nominee for a position on the Federal Election Commission, after her actions following the 2018 Georgia gubernatorial.

Dara Lindenbaum, Biden’s choice, worked as an attorney closely aligned to failed candidate Stacey Abrams. Repeatedly, Abrams refused to acknowledge she lost the race.

After Abrams lost to Governor Brian Kemp, Lindenbaum signed a complaint that alleged the state’s “unreliable” voting machines helped Kemp win.

“While we work to make it harder to cheat and easier to vote, there is no place on the Federal Election Commission for someone who calls Georgia’s voting system insecure and unreliable,” Congressman Drew Ferguson (R-GA-03) said. “That’s why the United States Senate must reject Dara Lindenbaum’s nomination to the FEC. As an election lawyer, she spearheaded efforts by Fair Fight Action and Raphael Warnock to undermine Georgia’s election process, while also perpetuating false claims of voter suppression and peddling unsubstantiated allegations that our state’s voting machines changed votes from Stacey Abrams to Governor Brian Kemp in 2018.”

Furthermore, Lindenbaum did not demonstrate any regret when grilled by Senator Ted Cruz during a congressional hearing.

Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr echoed the concerns of Congressman Ferguson.

“It would be a travesty to grant Dara Lindenbaum a seat on the FEC when she has spent the last four years in Georgia undermining our election system, perpetuating false claims of voter suppression, and pushing unfounded conspiracy theories that our voting machines ‘switched’ votes from failed gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams to Brian Kemp in 2018,” said Carr.

“The FEC is structured as an independent agency that seeks to uphold the integrity of elections, and Lindenbaum’s egregious attempts to invalidate Georgia’s election system based on allegations manufactured by the Abrams campaign should be cause for alarm. Her appointment would significantly harm efforts to restore Americans’ confidence in our elections, and I strongly urge the Senate to reject this nomination.”
