A new internal poll from Pennsylvania U.S. Senate candidate Dave McCormick shows the GOP contender as the frontrunner for the Republican nomination, according to a report from Breitbart News.

The survey, conducted by McLaughlin & Associates, received responses from 600 GOP voters from across the state and has a four-point margin of error.

Based on the results, McCormick has surged into the lead, obtaining 24 percent of the potential support. Mehmet Oz, who controlled the lead in many initial polls, followed McCormick at 18 percent.

However, a large number of voters remain undecided on their support, 27 percent in the survey.

“Oz is collapsing from previous surveys and has gained significant negatives,” Pollster Jim McLaughlin told Breitbart News. “David McCormick is on the rise in the campaign for U.S. Senate. They view Oz as a Hollywood liberal RINO, and his negative attacks appear to be backfiring on Oz.”

“In less than four weeks, McCormick has more than doubled his vote share from 11 percent to 24 percent. Meanwhile, Oz’s vote share has dropped from 28 percent to 18 percent. Quite simply, Oz is heading in the wrong direction and McCormick is surging.”

Since announcing his campaign, McCormick has gained the endorsement of many prominent leaders in the Republican Party. For example, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) backed the businessman.

“@DaveMcCormickPA is a warrior, & I’ve seen his toughness in action since we were at @WestPoint_USMA. He’ll push for strong borders, confront the CCP head-on, defend life & our #2A, & work tirelessly to restore America’s energy independence. I’m proud to give him my endorsement,” Pompeo said in a tweet.

Additionally, Sean Parnell, a former candidate who originally gained an endorsement from former President Trump, called McCormick “someone who could give me total confidence that they will fight for Pennsylvanians and never back down to the Woke mob.”
