Two major retailers, Walmart and New Balance, are opening distribution operations in Wilson County according to newly filed public records in the county obtained by Nashville Business Journal.

Walmart leased a newly built facility at 1015 Hixson Blvd., at the Highway 109 exit of Interstate 840. The company’s Walmart Fulfillment Services LLC subsidiary signed the lease. Walmart’s sales make it one of the world’s three largest retailers.

Atlanta-based Core5 Industrial Partners broke ground on the 925,860-square-foot building in January, marking its first development in Greater Nashville. Walmart’s lease initially lasts about 15 years, with multiple long-term extension options.

New Balance, the footwear and apparel brand, signed a lease at Panattoni Development Co.’s Speedway Industrial Park, adjacent to the Nashville Superspeedway race track off of Interstate 840. Public records reviewed by Nashville Business Journal identify a building on Darrell Waltrip Drive that is labeled “Building 8” on marketing materials for the industrial park. Those materials indicate that about 355,500 square feet of the building is leased, leaving another 259,000 square feet available.

New Balance’s leases initially last 10.5 years, with multiple long-term extension options, according to public records. New Balance also has what’s called “right of first offer” to lease the remaining space in the building.

Both new presences are sure to bring hundreds of new jobs to Lebanon, an area that’s been known for shipping, logistics and e-commerce operations. Walmart and New Balance are far from the only new retailers landing in Wilson County – the county has recently added many others including a hub from Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., a cutting-edge distribution building from REI and multiple Amazon.com Inc. facilities, Nashville Business Journal notes.
