Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI-13) admitted on video Wednesday that she only wears a mask when the cameras are rolling.

“I’m only wearing it because I have this Republican tracker over here,” Tlaib said when asked by a man whether he should put on a mask.

Tlaib, like most Democrat politicians, has implored people to wear masks and take precautions against COVID-19 throughout the entirety of the 20-month pandemic.

“20 days after Germany required wearing face masks, they saw a 45% reduction in COVID-19 cases. Wear a [mask],” she said in December 2020.

Similarly, she bemoaned the fact that Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employees at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport did not have access to masks in April of 2020.

Earlier this year, she once again said that masks are crucial to ending the pandemic, this time in a tweet about how some Michigan residents had their water shut off.

“Masks + social distancing helps stop the spread. Even more critical is the ability to wash your hands & body. Water is life,” she said at the time.

She also managed to turn masks into a racial issue when, against the directives of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) tens of thousands of Black Lives Matter protestors took to the streets to demonstrate last summer, at the height of the pandemic.

“Release the masks,” she said after accusing law enforcement of “devaluing Black life and violating the rights of Black folks.”

Current CDC guidelines say that individuals should wear masks in crowded spaces, regardless of vaccination status.

Tlaib joins a laundry list of Democrat politicians who have openly flouted the COVID-19 regulations that they have imposed on others.

Michigan’s own governor, Gretchen Whitmer (D) has repeatedly failed to follow her own guidelines, including for social distancing inside restaurants.

She also took a personal trip to Florida while the CDC still advised against personal travel during the pandemic.
