According to data from the Tennessee Department of Education, the number of Tennessee school-aged children testing positive for COVID-19 the last 14 days has seen a significant drop in just 4 days.
The September 20th total number of COVID cases reported by the Tennessee Department of Education reflects a 5,178 drop since the 25,946 cases on September 16th.
For example, Davidson County, four days previous to Monday’s report, totaled 1,796 cases among school-aged children. Now, that total has dropped to 1,437 cases. Knox County, which had recently surpassed Davidson with the second-highest total, has dropped from 2,043 cases to 1,695 and Rutherford County has dropped from 1,373 cases to 1,044.
According to data from the Tennessee Health Department, hospitalizations among children are also at their lowest levels in nearly a month and the cases among all ages have continued to drop as well.
On September 9th, the number of people hospitalized with COVID among all ages hit its peak at a total of 3,831 total cases. Now, as of September 21st, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID has dropped to 3,171.
On September 4th, the number of children aged 0-17 hospitalized with COVID hit its peak at a total of 86 cases. As of September 21st, the total number of kids aged 0-17 hospitalized has nearly been cut in half at 48 cases.
The decrease in number of cases and people hospitalized with COVID is a sign of good news and brings hope for the near future.
