Members of the House Ethics Committee will meet on Wednesday to discuss its investigation into allegations that former Florida GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz engaged in sexual misconduct with a minor, a source told NBC News on Monday. The committee was expected to discuss the report last Friday, but postponed the discussion after Gaetz resigned from Congress last week after being nominated for attorney general. President-elect Donald Trump nominated Gaetz for the position last Wednesday. 

Almost three-fourths of voters say it should be illegal to subject children to transgender medical interventions, according to a new poll from Napolitan News Service. The percentage of voters surveyed who oppose child sex changes—which include so-called puberty blockers, hormone regimens, and irreversible surgeries—increased by 10 points since August.

Brendan Carr, President-elect Donald Trump's choice for chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has promised to end the agency's promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies as part of his agency. "The FCC's most recent budget request said that promoting DEI was the agency's second-highest strategic goal. Starting next year, the FCC will end its promotion of DEI," Carr said.

However, a DCNF review of Chinese government announcements and the program’s website discovered the camps are overseen by a Chinese influence and intelligence service.

President-elect Donald Trump confirmed Monday that he will declare a national emergency and use military assets to help him carry out his mass deportation plans. “True!!!” the president-elect posted on Truth Social early Monday morning in response to a post by Tom Fitton, the president of Judicial Watch. Fitton had posted about reports indicating the incoming Trump administration was “prepared to declare a national emergency and will use military assets to reverse the Biden invasion through a mass deportation program.”

Federal pricing data released this week for consumer and producer prices shows that inflation rose last month. Harvard professor and former economic advisor to President Barack Obama Jason Furman said the consumer data could show a “resurgence of inflation” not to the ultra high levels in recent years but to more recent elevated data.

Sanctuary jurisdictions have freed tens of thousands of criminal migrants during President Joe Biden’s time in the White House, federal law enforcement data show. Sanctuary cities and other localities across the U.S. have freed more than 22,000 criminal migrants wanted by federal immigration authorities since January 2021, according to data from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) obtained by the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS). The numbers pertain to ICE detainer requests ignored by local law enforcement agencies, instances when the enforcement agency provided insufficient notice to ICE or early releases of migrants subjected to detainer requests.

President-elect Donald Trump could reach an immigration agreement with the Maduro regime, in an attempt to advance his mass deportation plans, according to experts. Venezuela is not currently accepting deportees from the United States, but Trump's plans could force Maduro to reach a deal, said Ryan Berg, who directs the Future of Venezuela Initiative, a Washington, D.C. think tank at the Center for Strategic & International Studies.
