Georgia Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones on Monday announced the Fair and Safe Athletic Opportunities Act, which his office said in a press release, "would ban biological males from participating in women's sports across Georgia." The lieutenant governor's office explained the legislation, which is also known as Senate Bill 1, was drafted based upon the findings by the Senate Special Committee on the Protection of Women's Sports that Jones introduced last year. It revealed that SB 1 was formally introduced Monday by State Senator Greg Dolezal (R-Forsyth).

While Democrats in Virginia have suggested the incoming Trump administration's proposed cuts to the federal government will be a political liability among voters in the Old Dominion, both Governor Glenn Youngkin and Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears made statements last week declaring their support for the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) commission to be led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy. Youngkin was first to confirm his support for DOGE on Friday, when the governor signed a letter by the Republican Governors Association (RGA) to Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA-04).

The Arizona Senate Republicans issued a three-part agenda for the 2025 legislative session this past Wednesday. The first item, or “pillar,” is securing the border. The second pillar is “Preserving the American Dream in Arizona,” and the third, “Embracing Federalism and State Sovereignty,” includes securing elections.  State Senator Wendy Rogers (R-Flagstaff), who chairs the Senate Judiciary and Elections Committee, told The Arizona Sun Times that election integrity will be a priority despite Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs. “We do not fear the veto pen,” she said. “We at the Arizona Legislature will work very hard to come up with solutions to get our votes tallied and results known by election night. We have conferred with other states like Florida for best practices. We invite the governor to join us in restoring Arizona‘s faith in our elections.“ 

Outgoing Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is reportedly attempting to block passage of the bipartisan Laken Riley Act. According to Breitbart, the report comes from independent reporter Pablo Manriquez, who said the DHS Secretary’s opposition to the bill is due to the fact that “sources at DHS” estimate the cost of the bill’s implementation to be between $20 billion and $30 billion.

Over 25,000 acres are ablaze in Los Angeles in the Pacific Palisades fire, a veritable living hell. Some 12,000-plus structures were incinerated. More than 250,000 souls have been evacuated and are in need of shelter.
