Metro Nashville Council Member Jordan Huffman sent a letter to Davidson County requesting the “removal” of an election worker who allegedly threatened to have him arrested, engaged in intimidation, and refused to accept some forms of photo identification at various points during the 2024 election cycle.
Huffman made his letter to Davidson County Election Administrator Jeff Roberts public in a post to the social media platform X on Thursday.
“I am writing to you today to request the removal of Dr. Robert Adams as an election poll worker in Davidson county,” wrote Huffman (pictured above), before accusing Adams of “abusing his power with vters and election workers,” and offering specific incidents.
According to Huffman, his first interaction with the poll worker happened when Tennesseans cast their primary votes on August 1.
Huffman wrote the poll worker, “approached myself and a candidate running for office outside of the polling location and informed us that ‘he could have us arrested’ for where we were standing,” but that both Huffman and the other candidate were “well outside the 100 foot boundary” where electioneering is prohibited.
“The threat and tone used was unbecoming of the standard set by other poll workers I have encountered in Davidson County,” wrote the Metro Council member.

When Huffman returned to the Hermitage Community Center polling location with his family to cast his ballot on Election Day, the poll worker was allegedly there to greet him.
According to Huffman, the poll worker approached his family and “asked in a condescending/threatening tone if I remembered him,” referring to the August 1 incident.
Huffman then claimed the poll worker refused to accept the temporary identification card provided by the State of Tennessee to one of his constituents as a proper form of voter identification and claimed a second complaint was filed against Adams over the incident.
The Nashville lawmaker argued to Roberts that the poll worker should be removed to maintain voter confidence in the integrity of Nashville’s elections.
“My fear is that countless voters have been intimidated and therefore had their rights as voters compromised,” wrote Huffman. “I ask you to consider removing Dr. Adams from his position as he has proven to abuse his position over the democratic process of voting.”
Huffman represents District 14, which he reportedly described as tolerant, diverse, and progressive during a May interview. He was among the original cosponsors of a resolution to condemn the attempt to assassinate President-elect Donald Trump on July 13.
