Former Pennsylvania Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., will not vote for former President Donald Trump or Vice President Kamala Harris in the upcoming election.
Toomey confirmed his plans in an interview with CNBC News in which he said he pointed to Trump’s 2020 election challenges as his main reason for not backing the Republican.
“When you lose an election and you try to overturn the results so that you can stay in power, you lose me. You lose me at that point,” the former senator said, according to The Hill.
Toomey said he did vote for Trump in 2016 and in 2020 but could not do so this year.
He further added that he would not support Harris due to her economic policies.
“It is an acceptable position for me to say that neither of these candidates can be my choice for president,” Toomey later said.
Harris and Trump are expected to take part in a debate later this month on ABC News.
