Pete Barrett, the founder of Barrett Firearms Manufacturing, has endorsed the new “Gun Owners for Trump” coalition organized by the Republican National Committee (RNC) and former President Donald Trump.
The coalition, announced on Saturday, is composed of over 50 Olympic athletes, firearm industry leaders, and public advocates who “stand up for the Second Amendment.”
The mission statement of the coalition reads as follows:
Gun Owners for Trump unites Gun Rights advocates in our mission to protect and defend our Second Amendment rights as enumerated by the Constitution of the United States. President Trump believes that every American has a God-given right to protect themselves and their family and has proven through his actions that he will defend law-abiding gun owners. By re-affirming our support, gun owners across the country are working to deliver President Trump a second term and put a stop to Biden’s “no-compromise approach” to dismantling America’s gun laws.
Barrett Firearms is headquartered in Murfreesboro. The company was founded in 1982 when Ronnie Barrett invented the first shoulder-fired .50 cal rifle.
Barrett Firearms products are used by “civilian sport shooters, law enforcement agencies, the United States military and more than 80 State Department approved countries across the world,” according to the company’s website.
Ashley Britt, the Tennessee state director for Women for Gun Rights, has also endorsed the coalition.
Women for Gun Rights is a nationwide organization of women “committed to safeguarding the Second Amendment.”
The Gun Owners for Trump website contains resources for voters including checking voter registration information and directions on how to request an absentee ballot.
The website also details the former president’s work to preserve gun rights during his first term in office, touting, “President Trump did more for Gun Owners than any administration in history!”
“Every single Biden attack on gun owners and manufacturers will be terminated on my very first week back in office,” Trump said in a statement.
