A pro-Palestine rally is scheduled to be held in downtown Nashville on Wednesday, the organization Palestine Hurra Collective Nashville announced on social media.

Wednesday’s “May Day Rally and March” will be held at 5:30 p.m. at Centennial Park.

Activists at the rally will reportedly advocate for the “liberation of all oppressed peoples,” according to Palestine Hurra Collective Nashville.

“Nashville — workers, students, everyone all out for Palestine and for the liberation of all oppressed peoples,” the pro-Palestine group wrote in an Instagram post. “Join us on May Day as we aim to build intergenerational solidarity across our communities and show up for the students who are steadfastly protesting against their university that is funding this genocide. As workers & students, when we are united, we cannot be defeated!”

The group urged those planning on attending Wednesday’s rally to “mask up” and bring drums, flags, and wear keffiyehs.

“The more they try to silence us, the louder we will be,” the group said. “We ask our community members to continue showing up with us as we take principled, difficult, but necessary stances to push for collective liberation. When we move together as one, we can push the boundaries of what anyone thought was possible.

Wednesday’s rally comes as Vanderbilt University in Nashville has allowed a pro-Palestine encampment to be occupied on campus in front of Kirkland Hall for over a month.

The Vanderbilt Divest Coalition (VDC) marked 30 days of its Palestine Solidarity Encampment on Friday.

The encampment began on the night 27 students staged a pro-Palestine sit-in event at Kirkland Hall, as previously reported by The Tennessee Star.

“VDC marks 30 days of our Palestine Solidarity Encampment. What began on the night of the Kirkland 27’s sit-in as support for student protestors has grown into a prominent and continuous protest site to hold Vanderbilt accountable for their complicity in genocide. This encampment is dedicated to the liberation of Palestine, and we need your support to continue our push for Vanderbilt to disclose and divest from death,” VDC said in an Instagram post.

The encampment is being supplied by donations collected and delivered by groups including Palestine Hurra Collective Nashville.
