Alex Triantafilou, the chairman of the Ohio Republican Party, wants voters across the state to unite behind the Republican candidates who won their primary races on Tuesday ahead of the November general election.
“Whether you are a disenfranchised Democrat, independent, or lifelong GOP faithful, I hope you will join us in supporting our strong Republican candidates in 2024 and securing major victories up and down the ballot on November 5th,” Triantafilou said in a statement.
Regarding the presidential primary, Triantafilou said he looks forward to traveling to the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee with the Ohio delegates to show support for former President Donald Trump, who received 889,000 votes (79.19 percent) on Tuesday.
“Joe Biden’s presidency has been a complete and total disaster. Every Ohioan need only ask themselves, “Am I better off now than I was four years ago?” The answer for the vast majority of Americans is unequivocally “no.” President Trump loves this country and is exactly the candidate we need to unite our party at the top of the ticket and drive turnout in November,” Triantafilou said.
In the U.S. Senate GOP primary, Trump-endorsed businessman Bernie Moreno defeated State Senator Matt Dolan (R-Chagrin Falls) and Secretary of State Frank LaRose in the race with 553,674 votes (50.5 percent).
Moreno (pictured above, left) will face Democrat incumbent U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) in the general election.
“Ohio’s U.S. Senate race is shaping up to be the most important race in the entire nation, and we are honored to have the opportunity to fight alongside Bernie Moreno to finally retire Sherrod Brown. For decades, Sherrod has proven to be nothing more than a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Sherrod’s priorities do not lie with working Ohio families. Instead, he has built his career off the backs of D.C. special interests and by cozying up to far-left Democrats like Chuck Schumer, Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren,” Triantafilou said.
“Over the past several months, Bernie has proven that he will go to Washington and fight for America First policies that will improve the lives of all Ohioans. We look forward to working hand in glove with him as we lend our full support to flip the U.S. Senate. He will be a strong ally alongside Senator J.D. Vance in Washington,” Triantafilou added.
Other notable races watched closely on Tuesday included the state’s 1st, 2nd, 6th, 9th, and 13th congressional districts – three of which are currently represented by Democrat representatives Emilia Sykes (D-OH-13), Marcy Kaptur (D-OH-09), and Greg Landsman (R-OH-01).
“I want to extend a sincere note of congratulations to Orlando Sonza (OH-1), Dave Taylor (OH-2), Michael Rulli (OH-6), Derek Merrin (OH-9) (pictured above, right), and Keven Coughlin (OH-13) who have been chosen by Republican voters to represent their districts in the United States House of Representatives. Expanding our majority in the U.S. House is integral to getting our nation back on track, and Ohio will do our part,” Triantafilou said.
