A poll conducted by East Carolina University’s Center for Survey Research published on Friday reveals how likely voters in Ohio would vote in the 2024 U.S. Senate race.
In the Republican primary election, the poll shows Ohio State Senator Matt Dolan (R-Chagrin Falls) with a 2-point lead over businessman Bernie Moreno and a 10-point lead over Secretary of State Frank LaRose.
Dolan received 33 percent of the vote compared to Moreno’s 31 percent and LaRose’s 23 percent.
A total of 14 percent of voters remain undecided.

Among the 14 percent of voters who remain undecided, however, the poll notes that “a plurality indicates that they lean most toward voting for Dolan” (47 percent) compared to 32 percent for LaRose and 21 percent for Moreno.
Dolan’s lead in Friday’s poll comes two days after a poll conducted by Emerson College Polling and The Hill showed Dolan leading Moreno and LaRose for the first time in this primary race, as previously reported by The Ohio Star.
All the Republican candidates are vying to unseat incumbent Democrat U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH), who was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 2006.
Friday’s poll showed Dolan with a lead over Brown in a head-to-head matchup in the general election.
Dolan’s 2-point lead over Brown (43 percent-41 percent) is the first time he, Moreno, or LaRose have led the Democrat incumbent senator in a head-to-head matchup.
Brown continues to lead Moreno and LaRose in head-to-head matchups by four points (45 percent-41 percent) and five points (45 percent-40 percent), respectively.
Friday’s poll was conducted from March 8-11, 2024. The sample consisted of completed responses from 1,298 likely voters in Ohio.
Dolan’s lead in the two polls this week comes as he was endorsed by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and First Lady Fran DeWine on Tuesday.
Ohio’s primary election will take place on Tuesday. Early voting runs through Sunday.
