Wednesday, February 21 is the first day of early voting for the March 19 Primary Election in Ohio.

Early in-person voting includes the last two Saturdays and the last Sunday before election day, which is March 17.

Absentee mail-in ballots must be requested by March 12 and postmarked before election day.

Polls are open on election day from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

In addition to local candidates, the primary ballot will include statewide presidential, U.S. Senate, and Supreme Court candidates.

An Emerson College poll conducted between January 23 and January 25 shows former President Donald Trump with an 11-point lead over incumbent Democrat President Joe Biden in the state, as Trump garnished 47 percent compared to Biden’s 36 percent.

Trump also leads former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley in the state’s Republican primary by 67.5 points, according to FiveThirtyEight’s polling tracker as of Monday.

In regards to the U.S. Senate primary race, three Republican candidates – businessman Bernie Moreno, State Senator Matt Dolan (R-Chagrin Falls), and Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose – are running with the hopes of unseating incumbent Democrat Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH).

Another notable race in Ohio is the state’s 13th Congressional District, where Republicans are looking to flip the seat currently represented by Democrat U.S. Representative Emilia Sykes (D-OH-13).

Wednesday is also the first day of early voting for Ohio’s 6th Congressional District Special Primary Election.

The special primary election follows a formal resignation by U.S. Representative Bill Johnson (R-OH-06), which became effective on January 21. Shortly after Johnson’s resignation announcement, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine issued a Writ of Election directing the primary election to be held on Tuesday, March 19, the same day as the statewide presidential primary election.

The special general election for Ohio’s 6th Congressional District will be held on June 11.
