House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green (R-TN-07) announced a full committee hearing to “examine threats posed by the Iranian regime to U.S. homeland security” will be held on Wednesday.

The full hearing, entitled “An Examination of the Iranian Regime’s Threats to Homeland Security,” will feature testimony from the following four witnesses:

  • Nathan A. Sales, Former Ambassador-at-Large and Coordinator for Counterterrorism at the Department of State
  • Ms. Masih Alinejad, Author and Activist
  • Mr. Robert Greenway, Director of the Center for National Defense at The Heritage Foundation
  • Mr. Thomas S. Warrick, Senior Fellow and Director at the Future of DHS Project at the Atlantic Council and Former Department of Homeland Security Deputy Assistant Secretary for Counterterrorism Policy

“The recent cowardly and despicable attacks on Israel by Hamas terrorists demonstrate once again the Iranian regime’s unending commitment to destroying Israel. These sophisticated and coordinated attacks remind us that Iran remains a threat to U.S. homeland security, and will stop at nothing to undermine our interests in the region, as well,” Green said in a statement. “In this hearing, we will hear unvarnished and objective perspectives about what the Iranian regime is capable of and the threats it poses going forward.”

Green announced a full hearing days after he led the House Homeland Security Committee in condemning Iran-backed Hamas’ attack on Israel and expressing “deep concern over the Biden administration’s actions and inactions on Iran.”

In a letter sent to President Joe Biden, the committee wrote, “We urge you to immediately re-examine your actions and inactions on Iran and its terrorist proxies and provide Israel with whatever assistance is needed to respond to these terrorists. While you say that your administration stands with the State of Israel, we certainly expect your actions will follow accordingly. We stand ready to do our part.”
