Investigative journalist Ben Bergquam of Real America’s Voice and Frontline America has been documenting the chaos on the U.S. border with Mexico, especially along Arizona’s border. On Tuesday, he stopped by the border in Lukeville, where the Border Patrol told him there are large numbers of Syrians and Pakistanis illegally coming over the border.

“That’s what we’re doing right now,” Bergquam said in a video taken at the border showing migrants in tents. “Again. Day after day after day. You saw the footage I just put out two days ago. This is today. And it’ll be like this tomorrow and the next day and the next day. And this is one point on our border and it’s like this across our entire border.”

He pointed at tents housing “fighting age men” and others. The journalist explained how the Border Patrol is tied up handling them, including driving their luggage around, so they aren’t available to patrol the border. Another video he took on Tuesday showed a long line of “all single, fighting age men” by the tents.

Bergquam told The Arizona Sun Times that “we already know people from Yemen are coming across the border,” who he warned are Islamic fundamentalists.

Bergquam said he believes there are organizations and politicians in the U.S. who are profiting from the trafficking, “representatives in our own government who are compromised by the cartels.”

He said there are also “so-called charities funded by our government that are transporting illegals and training them on how to game our immigration system.” No More Deaths, a project of the Unitarian-Universalist Church in Tucson, was getting funding from Pima County, he said.

Bergquam said the cartels run Mexico and monitor a strip along the border on the U.S. side. His videos have shown them stationed along the border. When he first began visiting the Arizona border, he would see 10 to 15 state troopers along the I-8 between Yuma and Phoenix waiting to catch smugglers. Now, there are none.

The cartels recently shot one of his drones out of the sky; he could see it happening less than a mile away.

Bergquam, who is fluent in Spanish, often asks the migrants what country they’re from. On Monday, he stopped by a group huddled along the fence in Lukeville. They were from Senegal, Djibouti, Ecuador, India, and Columbia. They were not afraid to speak to him, many telling him they were headed to New York and Ohio. In the video, he said he’d never seen migrants crossing the border there before; he said they started coming over after the Title 42 restrictions were lifted earlier this year.

In a third video, he showed part of the wall by Lukeville where the metal bar had been cut. He pointed out how the cut pieces are back in place to disguise the breach. Smugglers stationed as lookouts can be seen partially concealed in the distance on the Mexico side. He filmed some migrants coming through an opening in the fence, who were unafraid as he asked them where they came from. They said Ecuador.

He said the solution is to conduct investigations to determine which politicians and law enforcement have been bought off or threatened. He said the investigations should be conducted by law enforcement since they will have warrants and subpoena power. It is something local sheriffs could do.

Bergquam compared the situation to the current overseas fighting between Hamas and Israel. He said Americans are very concerned about that, but it’s not even happening near us. A comparison would be if Israel invited Hamas into Jerusalem. He said the Founding Fathers warned about “enemies within” destroying the U.S.

He said, “If Katie Hobbs had not stolen the election from Kari Lake, this would not be happening in Arizona.”
