We the People Convention (WTPC), an Ohio-based nonprofit that advocates for limited constitutional governance, endorsed Ohio U.S. Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH-04) for Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Noting Jordan’s work with the organization over the years, WTPC President Tom Zawistowski said in a statement, “He is, in my opinion, conservative to the core. He loves America with all his heart and he works tirelessly for the people of Ohio and this nation to protect their freedom, liberty and prosperity.”
“Jordan is the kind of leader we need to get the U.S. House and our nation back on track…I know Jim Jordan does not want to be Speaker because he and I have talked about it many times. I also know, and he knows, that he must become Speaker NOW because he is the only member of Congress who has everyone’s respect and can get the entire Republican caucus to focus on the things we can get and must get done for the American people,” Zawistowski added.
“Jim Jordan is the right man for the job of Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and he has the total support of our organization and our 100,000 members in all 50 states,” Zawistowski concluded.
On Tuesday, the U.S. House of Representatives adopted a motion to vacate former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA-20) by a 216-210 vote. North Carolina U.S. Representative Patrick McHenry (R-NC-10) has since been appointed Speaker Pro Tempore.
Jordan sent a letter to his colleagues on Wednesday seeking their support for the House Republican Conference’s nomination for Speaker of the House.

“Now is the time for our Republican conference to come together to keep our promises to Americans. The problems we face are challenging, but they are not insurmountable,” Jordan’s letter reads. “We can focus on the changes that improve the country and unite us in offering real solutions. But no matter what we do, we must do it together as a conference.”
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA-01) also sent a letter to his colleagues on Wednesday, seeking to be the next Speaker of the House.
