Former President Donald Trump recorded a video heaping praise on Georgia State Senator Colton Moore (R-Trenton) for his legislative petition to force Governor Brian Kemp (R) to call a special session for the purpose of defunding or impeaching Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.

Moore (pictured above) announced his petition effort immediately after Willis indicted Trump and 18 other defendants in August, but received intense push back from Georgia Republicans shortly after. Moore, a member of the Georgia Freedom Caucus, then arranged for activists to door-knock in Republican stronghold districts held by senators who oppose his petition, which ultimately helped provoke his expulsion from the Georgia Senate Republican Caucus.

“Highly respected Georgia State Senator Colton Moore deserves thanks and congratulations from everyone for having the courage and convictions to fight the radical left lunatics who are so badly hurting the great state of Georgia,” said the former president, before turning his ire to “failed DA Fani Willis,” who Trump said “allowed Atlanta and Fulton County to become a record setting murder and violent crime war zone, with almost no retribution for those murderers.”

Trump continued by noting that Willis “shockingly indicted your favorite president – me – for a perfect phone call,” calling the Fulton County prosecutor’s actions “very bad” for Georgia and the United States. The former president also expressed gratitude to Georgia Republicans for “putting up with” the public legal battle.

Moore posted Trump’s video to X, formerly Twitter, and used the opportunity to urge his followers to contact Georgia Senate Majority Leader Stephen Gooch (R-Dahlonega), an opponent of Moore’s call for a legislative session, to urge his colleague to sign and back the petition.

After Moore was ousted by the Georgia Senate Republican Caucus for his attempts to impeach or defund Willis, the senator called it a “sad day” when “my fellow Republicans would rather oust me from their group than oust Fani Willis” from her position during an appearance on “America First” with Sebastian Gorka.

Moore accused Willis of “breaking the constitution and the rule of law that we hold dear” and said a special session is the “appropriate action to take,” and blamed pressure from grassroots Georgia activists for the decision to oust him.

In a statement obtained by the media after he was ousted, Moore called the special session push “the fight of our lifetime” and admonished Georgia’s Republican senators for “acting like children” over their disagreement.
