Democratic Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs came in as the second least popular governor in America, according to a new Morning Consult poll.

The poll detailed that among samples of registered voters in each state surveyed, Hobbs had the second-lowest favorable rating in the country at a mere 40 percent, barely avoiding last place by beating out Democratic Oregon Governor Tina Kotek, who garnered a 39 percent favorable rating.

The Morning Consult said that it conducted the poll quarterly in 2021-2023 among representative samples of registered voters in each state, with margins of error of +/-1 percentage point. The company did not list “Don’t know/No opinion” responses. It did not indicate how many individuals polled were Republican, Democrats, or Independents.

According to Republicans, Hobbs’ low approval rating seems to reflect disappointment from voters due to her recent string of legislation vetoes and numerous unconstitutional executive orders.

When she ran for office, Hobbs pledged an “open-door” policy and was prepared to cooperate with the Republican-controlled Legislature. That swiftly changed when she began a record-breaking veto spree that killed several bipartisan initiatives. At the beginning of this legislative session, Hobbs set the all-time veto record, and she kept building on it until the very end of the session.

Hobbs is also under fire for recently issuing numerous unconstitutional executive orders such as allowing taxpayer-funded sex-change surgeries, stripping county attorneys of their prosecutorial powers, protecting a death row inmate from execution, acting as a travel agency in transporting illegal immigrants to their preferred destinations, and even focusing on hairstyles of state employees.

Arizona Republican lawmakers spoke out against Hobbs following the polls released on Monday, citing that her poor leadership of the state resulted in her poor approval ratings.

According to State Representative Cory McGarr (R-Tucson), Hobbs’ mismanagement of her office and abuse of power led to her poor rating.

“It’s almost like mismanaging your office, abusing your power, and vetoing common sense is unpopular in a right-leaning state. Great job Hobbs,” McGarr said.

The Arizona Freedom Caucus also commented, questioning “if Katie Hobbs is proud of being the second LEAST popular governor in America.”

According to Arizona Republican politician and former candidate for Arizona Governor Kari Lake, Hobbs is failing as governor and is taking Arizona down with her.

“Just seven months into her illegitimate tenure in The 9th Floor, Katie Hobbs is the second least popular “Governor” in the nation. She’s failing and she’s taking Arizona down with her,” Lake said.

According to the Republicans, Hobbs’ unfavorable rating suggests a strong foundation of resistance to her administration and policies despite only being in her first year of office.
