During the 12-minute interview released Tuesday afternoon, Carlson questioned the actor on a variety of different topics, including why he doesn’t financially contribute to political campaigns and his decision to refuse the COVID-19 vaccine.
While the pair was chauffeured through Los Angeles, Ice Cube spoke about the area in which he grew up and pointed out his childhood home, where his father still resides. The actor noted how the trees that used to be on his street were all cut down due to the police helicopters being unable to locate suspects through the branches.
As the camera panned to the rows of tents lined up on Los Angeles streets, Carlson asked Ice Cube about his decision to not contribute to political campaigns.
“Politicians only really pay attention to the people that give them money. Politicians have hidden agendas – they owe a lot of people a lot of favors. The more money you give them, the more you are listened to,” the actor said.
When Carlson asked the actor what he thought when Barack Obama was elected president, Ice Cube noted that while he felt “proud that America took that step,” years went by and “not much changed” for the people he knows and cares about.
The actor agreed with Carlson when he called Obama’s election a “symbolic victory.”
In regards to the COVID-19 vaccine, Carlson asked the actor about his decision to turn down a role in a movie worth $9 million for his refusal to receive the vaccine, which was a requirement for the cast of the movie.
Ice Cube said he didn’t “feel safe” taking the vaccine, saying that it “wasn’t ready” and was a “6-month rush job.”
“It’s not their decision. There’s no repercussions if they’re wrong, but I can get all of the repercussions if they’re wrong,” the actor said, noting that his decision to refuse the vaccine was not a tough call.
When asked by Carlson if he knows anybody injured by the vaccine, the actor said, “I do, and they suffer every day. It’s hard to watch.”
The eleventh episode of ‘Tucker on Twitter’ will feature Carlson interviewing Ice Cube at the actor’s studio. Meanwhile, as of press time, the latest installment of Carlson’s video podcast, posted at 5:53 p.m. Central Standard Time on Tuesday, had 2.7 million views. The ten episodes have been seen 495.1 million times on Twitter.
