Governor Bill Lee’s office Friday announced the appointment of more than 20 new government officials to fill key roles in the state.
Lee’s first appointment was Tony Treadway, who Lee named a Trustee of the East Tennessee State University Board (ETSU) of Trustees.
According to the university, Treadway is an alumnus and the current CEO of The Creative Energy Group Inc. He is a former member of the Johnson City School Board.
“Tony’s deep roots in Northeast Tennessee, his commitment to education and his extensive business experience make him an exceptional addition to our Board of Trustees,” ETSU President Dr. Brian Noland said. “His strong ties to the university and community, paired with his experience in leadership positions, will undoubtedly be an asset to our ongoing mission of excellence.”
Treadway’s appointment is subject to legislative confirmation.
Lee appointed 13 people to the Emergency Medical Services Board.
They are:
- Jeffrey Bagwell
- Tim Bell
- David Blevins
- Jeanie Diden
- Steve Hamby
- William Drew Hooker
- Jared McKinney
- Greg Miller
- Shannon Lynn Morphis
- Glenda Joyce Noles
- Stacy Prater
- Jason Tunstall
- Chris Wheat
That board is part of the Department of Health, and part of its responsibility is to plan for disasters, natural or otherwise.
Tony Giarratana and Commissioner Stuart McWhorter of the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TDECD) were appointed to the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority Board.
Appointed to the Public Charter School Commission were Tim Griscom for the East Tennessee region, Chris Richards for the West Tennessee region, and Lauren Smith for the Middle Tennessee region. Those appointments are also subject to state legislative confirmation.
Herbert Hilliard was appointed to chair the Tennessee Public Utility Commission, which is subject to legislative confirmation. Krissi McInturff was appointed to the Tennessee State Board of Education for the First Congressional District. That position, too, is subject to legislative confirmation.
Finally, Michael Ugwueke was appointed to the University of Tennessee Health Science Center Advisory Board. His appointment is subject to legislative approval.
“I’m pleased to appoint these highly-qualified individuals who will ensure that Tennessee continues to lead the nation,” said Lee. “The success of our state depends on the engagement of Tennesseans, and I look forward to their service.”
