Republican Sen. Ron Johnson attributed his lead in the polls to the Democrats’ inability to defend their policies based on the record of their past two years in power.

“The Democrats can’t defend their their record,” Johnson said on the Friday edition of the “Just the News, Not Noise” television show. “I mean, their policies have had just such disastrous results with the open border, the flooded deadly drugs, 40 year high inflation and record gasoline prices, which they purposely drove higher.”

Johnson went on to say that Democrats don’t have anything on which to run and often resort to personal attacks.

“All they have are lies, distortions, character assassination, and the politics of personal destruction,” the Wisconsin senator stated. “It looks like the truth will prevail. Let’s hope the truth will prevail.”

Johnson referred to his opponent, Democratic Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes as a radical leftist.

“A divided nation is a weakened nation,” Johnson stated. “And unfortunately, these radical leftists are exacerbating the divide and so is Mandela Barnes. He’s far too radical and far too extreme for Wisconsin. I think if there is a shift in the polls, that’s probably what’s happening.”

In a recent poll from AARP, Johnson led in the polls by 5 points, according to The Hill.

He asserted that conservatives have to fight to get their messaging out since the media isn’t on their side.

“The Radical Left has the bulk of the media on its side, so we need to pay to get our truth out: RonJohnsonsenate.com,” he concluded. “We can’t let up, but we’ve got to continue to convey the truth.”
