Spalding County Sheriff Darrell Dix, presented Georgia GOP Senatorial nominee Herschel Walker, with an official Sheriff’s office badge as a token of thanks for the candidate’s support of law enforcement.
“Spalding County Sheriff Darrell Dix made @HerschelWalker an honorary deputy to thank him for his commitment to backing the blue. #gapol” Walker campaign spokeswoman Mallory Blount said on Friday.
In addition to receiving an honorary commission as an officer in the Spalding County Police Department, a former county sheriff from Cobb stated he had done the same in his tenure.
Walker, former GA-06 Rep. Newt Gingrich, State Senator Brandon Beach (R-Alpharetta), and National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd joined the former sheriff at a law enforcement press conference on Friday.
“Honored to be joined by @newtgingrich, @beachforga, @BPunion President Brandon Judd, and former Cobb County Sheriff Neil Warren today in Alpharetta for a roundtable with law enforcement,” the Trump-endorsed Walker said on Friday.
“It’s simple: I stand with our great police, @reverendwarnock does not,” he added.
Walker’s campaign spokeswoman, Blount, relayed that firefighters and other first responders were in attendance at the press conference.
“Herschel Walker and Newt Gingrich [were] in Alpharetta for a roundtable with law enforcement, border experts, fire fighters, and first responders to discuss the rampant crime that has happened under @ReverendWarnock’s watch. #gapol” Blount said.
in a statement on Friday, Walker recognized law authorities for the 24/7 availability of their services and his support for them.
“Our heroic law enforcement officers work around the clock to protect and serve Georgians. @TeamHerschel will always #backtheblue” Walker said.
Walker also publicly challenged Senator Warnock to partake in discourse on a reconciliation bill in a Lincoln-Douglas-esque discussion.
“So, then we can discuss and people will see the difference between Senator Warnock and Herschel Walker,” he said at Friday’s press conference.
The National Border Patrol Council President, Brandon Judd, announced at the press conference that the organization had officially endorsed Walker’s senate run.
“Voting to end cash bail and 100% support of Joe Biden’s soft-on-crime, weak-sentencing judicial nominees, #WashingotnWarnock has consistently backed criminals instead of keeping our communities safe!” Team Herschel said in a Thursday night statement.
Atlanta Tea Party President Debbie Dooley spoke to The Georgia Star News on Friday about the Trump endorsee.
“It is clear the liberal media is on the attack against Herschel because they know he will beat Warnock. Herschel is going to make a great Senator. He is not an over-polished politician and speaks from the heart,” Dooley said.
“He is someone Georgia voters can count on to represent us and not special interests,” Dooley added.
