Congressman Mark Green (R-TN-07) endorsed Tennessee House District 63 candidate Jake McCalmon in the GOP primary election.

McCalmon will face multiple opponents in the August election, such as Laurie Cardoza-Moore and James Sloan.

The winner of the Republican primary will then advance to the November general election to take on the Democratic nominee. The winner of the general election will replace former House Speaker Glen Casada.

Speaking about the endorsement, Congressman Green, who represents the area in Congress, said, “I am confident that Jake’s business experience and his involvement in the community will make him a strong and effective leader in the State House. He knows what’s important to the people of Williamson County, and he has the experience to act on it. I am proudly supporting Jake McCalmon for House District 63, and I encourage you to join me and vote for him in the August 4th primary.”

Green is running for re-election, but his district will look slightly different due to the state’s redistricting process. The lawmaker has served since 2019 and was recently endorsed by former President Donald Trump.

According to his campaign website, McCalmon has pledged to be “conservative, pro-business, and low-tax,” if elected to the position.

In response to Green’s endorsement, the candidate praised Congressman Green’s record and pledged to fight for conservative values, if elected.

“I am proud to receive Congressman Green’s endorsement,” McCalmon said in an emailed release. “He represents our Tennessee conservative values effectively in Washington and I will fight for those same conservative values at the state level. I am grateful to know him and honored to have his support moving forward.”

The businessman has also picked up support from the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) and the Tennessee Professional Fire Fighters Association (TPFFA).
