A nonprofit founded by gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams Monday bemoaned what it says is a lack of freedom for many Americans.

“Since our nation’s independence, true freedom has only ever existed for a small subset of people,” Fair Fight said on Twitter. “Today, when our basic rights are once again under attack, we’re celebrating those who continue the fight for freedom for every American—no matter their gender, race, or zip code.”

Monday was Independence Day.

The group did not specify which “subset of people” has “true freedom” and which groups of people do not.

However, Fair Fight was founded on the premise that the American voting system is systemically racist.

“Right now, Georgia and the country are facing the worst attacks on voting rights since Reconstruction,” according to Fair Fight’s website. “Record turnout in 2020 has renewed the insidious efforts to make voting more difficult by targeting Black, brown, young and other voters, and threatening their ability to have their voices heard. These efforts undermine our democracy.”

Abrams, who infamously refused to concede her loss to Governor Brian Kemp (R) after her 2018 gubernatorial bid, founded Fair Fight to combat what she and the group say is “voter suppression.”

Abrams and Kemp are currently in the midst of a rematch, which will be decided in December.

Abrams’ campaign has already found itself under fire for recent comments made about the state of Georgia.

“I am tired of being told that we are the best state in the country to do business when we are the worst state in the country to live,” Abrams said in May.

Other left-wingers griped about Independence Day too, in light of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

“Happy ‘Independence’ Day from me and my reproductive rights,” actress Jessica Chastain said on Twitter, making an obscene gesture.

The Pima County Democratic Party last week invited its supporters to a pro-abortion rally in a park, saying “F*ck the Fourth” and attaching a flyer for the event.

The group later removed the post after facing fierce blowback.
