Jake McCalmon, a candidate running in the GOP primary to represent Tennessee’s 63rd House District, received the endorsement of the Tennessee Professional Fire Fighters Association (TPFFA).
In a statement announcing the support, TPFFA President Matthew Tomek pointed to the businessman’s integrity and previous support of the organization.
“Jake McCalmon has a servant’s heart, and electing a man of his integrity and principles to a leadership position will serve the people of District 63 well,” Tomek said. “He is already heavily involved in his community, and will be a great asset to Tennesseans in Williamson County and across the state in the General Assembly. He is a valued supporter of TPFFA and our emergency response community, and I am confident that he will back us in Nashville when elected. I encourage you to join TPFFA and support him in the August 4 primary.”
McCalmon, in response to the endorsement, promised to continue to support the organization and firefighters across the state.
McCalmon said in an emailed release, “It is an absolute honor to receive the Tennessee Professional Fire Fighters Association’s endorsement. Our Tennessee firefighters exemplify honor, resolve and selflessness daily through their service to our community. TPFFA does important work by bringing together firefighters from across the state and backing legislation that provides them with the resources and aid that they need and deserve. When elected, I will prioritize our emergency response community, and do all that I can to thank them for their service through real and tangible action and legislation.”
In addition to McCalmon, intellectual property and patent attorney A.J. Bahou is also running in the Republican primary. The GOP nominee will advance to the general election in November
The winner of the general election will replace former House Speaker Glen Casada, who opted to run for the Williamson County Clerk’s office. However, he was defeated in the May primary election.
