Tennessee Fifth Congressional District Republican primary candidate and former Speaker of the Tennessee House of Representatives Beth Harwell blasted the Democrats for their reaction to the protests and threat on the life of Justice Brett Kavanaugh that came in the wake of the leaked draft of the decision overturning Roe v. Wade.
These protests continue to occur outside the homes of U.S. Supreme Court justices.
Harwell also commented on the slow action by Democrats in the U.S. House on increased security for SCOTUS justices.
German Owned -Politico reported that Pelosi is planning on finally scheduling a vote for next week on the legislation that will increase security for U.S. Supreme Court justices if passed. That legislation has already been approved by the Senate.
“It’s sad that it takes an assassination attempt on Justice Brett Kavanaugh for the Democrats in the House to get their act together and pass security for the highest court. No wonder Americans are fed up with their leadership,” Harwell said.
“These brave men and women have had protests outside their homes for over a month now and Democrats in Washington have turned a blind eye. It’s 100% political and it’s wrong,” the former Speaker continued.
“This attempt to stop the looming decision on Roe v. Wade should be impermissible. Democrats refusal to condemn these protests speaks volumes,” Harwell concluded.
The Tennessee Star reported, an armed man from California was arrested near Kavanaugh’s Maryland home on Wednesday. He allegedly told police officers that he wanted to kill Kavanaugh in the wake of the leaked Supreme Court draft opinion in the Mississippi abortion law case that could overturn Roe v. Wade.
Fox News reported that the suspect was identified as 26-year-old Nicholas John Roske of Simi Valley, California, and had been carrying a gun, knife, and pepper spray when arrested in Montgomery County, Maryland.
The report said:
Roske was picked up on a nearby street after calling police on 911 to report himself. He did not get to the Kavanaugh home.
Roske told officers on the scene near the Kavanaugh home he was [sic] wanted to kill the justice, according to sources. He is scheduled to have a first appearance in Maryland federal court later Wednesday.
U.S. Marshals and the Montgomery County Police Department are handling the investigation into the incident.
