U.S. Senate candidate Jim Lamon praised the judicial system for halting a plan by the Biden administration to repeal Title 42.
The public health order has allowed border officials to curb immigration throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
A federal judge in Louisiana issued a preliminary injunction against the repeal efforts until a lawsuit from Republican-led states works its way through the system.
“Thankful we have a judicial system in place to keep the incapable Biden/Kelly administration in check. Had the Louisiana judge not blocked Biden’s repeal to end Title 42, we could be looking at an even worse disaster for our border and our border patrol officers. They are already overwhelmed with 54,000 illegals crossing each week, compared to 2,000 a week in 2020 when the Remain In Mexico policy was enforced. A greater invasion would bring more crime, overcrowding in hospitals and schools, and an overall threat to public health,” Lamon said in an emailed statement.
In addition to blasting Biden, Lamon took aim at his potential general election opponent: Senator Mark Kelly.
“And Mark Kelly has the audacity to show up to the border today as if he has been trying to secure it when he’s voted twice to end Title 42. He’s repeatedly voted AGAINST enforcing immigration laws, securing the border, defunding sanctuary cities, and providing funds for increased border security. Kelly’s visit to the border today didn’t fool anyone relative to stopping the invasion at our border. The solution is to elect me as AZ’s next U.S. Senator as I have the endorsements of the National Border Patrol Council, Arizona Police Association, and the National Association of Police Organizations They know I will do everything I can to secure our southern border, even if that means shutting down business in the U.S. Senate,” he continued.
