Former U.S. Senator David Perdue’s Trump-endorsed campaign for Georgia governor announced several upcoming stops around the state as the May 24 Republican primary draws near.
As of press time, the election is less than a week away and Perdue’s best hope at continuing his campaign appears to be an attempt to force incumbent Governor Brian Kemp into a June runoff election by holding him to under 50 percent of the vote.
Perdue attended the Morgan County GOP meeting on Tuesday.
On Thursday, the Perdue campaign will attend the Cherokee County GOP meeting, which will be held at 5:30 p.m. at Semper Fi Bar & Grill, 9770 Main St. in Woodstock.
Friday is a day of media availability for Perdue. At 8:45 a.m., the candidate will be available to the press at the Columbus Airport, located at 3250 W. Britt David Rd. in Columbus.
The gubernatorial candidate is holding a second media availability at 10:45 .a.m in Macon, at the Middle Georgia Regional Airport, located at 1000 Terminal Dr.
A third media availability is scheduled for 12:45 p.m. in Augusta at Daniel Field, 1775 Highland Ave.
Friday culminates the Perdue campaign with a Bikers for Trump event at Papa J & Mama T’s Crazy Acres Bar & Grill, located at 3445 Rome Rd., Hwy 53 in Plainville. That event is scheduled to take place at 6 p.m.
On Saturday, Perdue will be at the Union County GOP meeting at 10 a.m. That event will be held at 129 Union Co. Rec. Rd. in Blairsville.
The last publicly announced event is the Perdue for Governor election watch party, which is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on May 24, primary day in Georgia. It will be held at the Sheraton Suites Galleria-Atlanta, 2844 Cobb Pkwy. SE in Atlanta.
The Perdue campaign said in the release that additional events will be announced in the near future.
The statement additionally said “Trump-endorsed David Perdue launched his campaign for governor of Georgia on Dec. 6th, 2021. As an outsider, Perdue’s bold, conservative vision includes fighting for election integrity, eliminating the state income tax, empowering parents to make decisions in their children’s education, and making our cities and state safe again. Perdue is taking on incumbent Brian Kemp as the only candidate who can unite Georgia’s fractured Republican Party and defeat Stacey Abrams in November.”
