Planned Parenthood and the Women’s March Foundation are hosting a pro-abortion rally on Saturday in Nashville.
The rally is scheduled to take place from noon to 2 pm at Legislative Plaza, located at 719 Church St. Nashville, Tennessee 37203.
The event caption says, “Join Women’s March Foundation, Planned Parenthood, and our partners for a national day of action! The Bans Off Our Bodies Abortion Rally across the country at your local courthouse, Federal building or City Hall on Saturday, May 14th.”
These rallies are being conducted around the United States on Saturday in the continued response to the leaked draft of the U.S. Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade.
Planned Parenthood’s national website says:
Supreme Court Leak:
Our Worst Fears Confirmed
Abortion is still legal. It’s still your right. But the Supreme Court is prepared to end your constitutional right to abortion. Our country is facing an abortion access crisis.
“By this summer, 26 states could move to ban abortion — affecting 36 million women, plus more people who can become pregnant,” it continues. “This is personal.”
Planned Parenthood has also posted a petition in a likely effort to gather data on pro-abortion individuals to use for get-out-the-vote and fundraising efforts for the 2022 midterms. “No abortion bans, PERIOD,” it says.
“Our bodies are our own — if they are not, we cannot be truly free or equal. Across the country, some politicians are trying to make decisions about our bodies for us,” the petition continues. “We won’t let the abortion bans sweeping the country put our lives and futures at risk, and we won’t be silenced while our fundamental right to control our bodies is taken away.”
“Everyone deserves health care that’s free of shame, stigma, or judgment. Together, we say: Get your bans off our bodies,” it concludes.
This strategy appears to be in line with one described in a question that The Tennessee Star posed to Vice President Kamala Harris’ press team, “Is the White House, along with Vice President Harris, latching onto abortion as a wedge issue in order to rile up the Democrat base for the November midterm elections and avoid addressing/fixing the economic, foreign, and domestic (ie. inflation, border, and crime crises) policy disasters that they’ve created?”
Her press team refused to answer it.
Previously, a top-tier political consultant told The Star, “The SCOTUS leak will help the Democrats raise a lot of money in the short term, but it won’t translate to votes in November. The Democrats are the party of abortion. They already had the pro-abortion vote and they’ve had it for decades.”
“Their base will probably even calm down on the issue when they eventually realize in the coming months that the leaked draft of the decision, contrary to the Democrat message, does not ban abortion at the federal level. It lets the states decide on that issue,” he added.
