Former U.S. Senator David Perdue, the Trump-endorsed candidate in the Georgia Republican primary for governor, gave his reaction late Monday evening to the reports that the Supreme Court of the United States will rule to overturn Roe v. Wade.
“There is word tonight that Roe v. Wade may soon be overturned. Bonnie and I are hopeful that’s the case. This potential ruling shows the importance of the three conservative Supreme Court Justices we confirmed working with President Trump while I was in the U.S. Senate. When I’m governor, Georgia will be the safest place in America for the unborn.”
The next day, Perdue said that if he were governor right now, he’d call the Georgia General Assembly back into session to draft legislation banning abortion in the state. “Bonnie and I believe that every child is a gift from God. Any ruling from the Supreme Court that would save innocent lives would be a historic milestone,” he said. “If I were governor when this ruling was issued, I would immediately call the legislature back into a special session to ban abortion in Georgia.”
The Georgia Star News additionally obtained a statement late Monday evening with Perdue’s reaction to the receipt of former Acting Director of ICE Tom Homan’s endorsement for governor.
“Illegals are overrunning our border and many are ending up right here in Georgia,” the endorsement said. “We need a Governor who will enforce our laws, stand up to Biden and the woke mob, and stop this madness. Director Homan is a true patriot, and I’m proud to have his endorsement.”
Homan said in his endorsement, “David Perdue is a strong conservative leader who will enforce the rule of law. Perdue is the one candidate who can fix Kemp’s mess, and I’m proud to support him.”
He additionally said of Perdue’s opponent, Governor Brian Kemp: “When it comes to dealing with illegal immigration, Kemp has failed the people of Georgia and this country. Kemp told the people of Georgia that he would round up criminal illegals in his pickup truck and deport them, but that turned out to be another empty promise from a career politician.”
