ATLANTA, Georgia – David Perdue, a former U.S. senator and the Trump-endorsed candidate for Georgia governor, blasted incumbent Governor Brian Kemp’s plan on Monday to “give $1.5 billion of Georgians’ tax dollars to a George Soros-owned woke corporation.”

“Brian Kemp just announced his plans to give $1.5 billion of Georgians’ tax dollars to a George Soros-owned woke corporation whose stated purpose is to combat climate change,” said Perdue. “This is the worst deal I have ever seen in my 40 years in business — $200,000 in taxpayer money per potential job. Think about how many small businesses in Georgia could be helped for this kind of money, instead of padding George Soros’ pockets.”

“Kemp gave away the farm to a woke corporation for something the locals don’t even want, and hardworking Georgians are left footing the bill,” he continued. “Only a desperate politician looking for an election year headline would cut a deal this outrageously dumb.”

This is not the first time that Perdue has taken Kemp to task over the Soros-owned Rivian deal. During the April 24 WSB-TV debate, the former senator said to Kemp, “Let’s talk about jobs. What you’re doing is taking hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars in Georgia and giving them to a company owned by George Soros. … You have not today told us how much you’re investing in Rivian. Would you tonight tell us how much of our taxpayer money you’re investing in that?”

Perdue additionally held a press conference on Thursday in Rutledge, Georgia, with No2Rivian, a citizens group that opposes the Soros-owned Rivian plant.

Perdue said, “Two hundred thousand dollars per job – is what we just gave George Soros and that company. It’s a California company whose mission is to turn the world green. They’re not interested in this part of the country. They want to make money off us.”

“I’m all for economic growth, but the way to do it is to get rid of the state income tax, leave your taxpayer dollars with you – get rid of that state income tax – and that will attract business here for the right reason,” continued Perdue.

Referring to the jobs that may be created by the Rivian plant, Perdue said, “I’m not even sure how many of those jobs will be given to Georgians. Are they going to import people from Illinois, Michigan, and California?”

Perdue also pointed out that the $1.5 billion is 5 percent of the annual budget of the state of Georgia.
