Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas and prominent conservative voice, endorsed Dave McCormick in Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senate race.
Since announcing his candidacy, McCormick has attempted to secure widespread GOP support, as he battles Mehmet Oz and other contenders in the Republican primary competition.
“Dave McCormick is everything Pennsylvanians and our country could want in a Senator. He is experienced, battle-tested, principled and wholeheartedly dedicated to serving the people of the Commonwealth,” said Huckabee. “Dave has put America First his whole life and I know he will fight to restore strong conservative principles to the U.S. Senate, including the right to life, protecting our Second Amendment, securing our southern border, fixing our economy and restoring U.S. strength on the world stage. At a time when our nation is headed down such a dangerous path, we need leaders like Dave who will go to Washington on day one and set us back on the right track, which is why I’m proud to support him as the next Senator from Pennsylvania.”
Huckabee’s endorsement underscores the growing moment of the McCormick campaign. The former governor and presidential contender joined GOP heavyweights Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in supporting McCormick.
Furthermore, recent polling has shown McCormick surging ahead of Oz, who was once the leading candidate. A poll from Fox News demonstrated McCormick leading Oz by 9 points. They each gathered 24 percent and 15 percent, respectively.
