Congressman Mark Green (R-TN-07) on Tuesday formally launched his campaign for a third term in the U.S. House of Representatives.
The lawmaker will run in the 7th Congressional District, which will hold a slightly different constituency than previous years due to the state’s redistricting plan.
In his announcement, Green, who was first elected to the position in 2018, pledged to fight for limited government and the wishes of Tennessee residents.
“From the radical Left’s attack on our freedoms and President Biden’s atrocious handling of the economy to serious national security challenges, our nation is under threat. The heavy-handed policies of the Democrat leadership in Washington have harmed all Americans—from small towns to the inner city, from union members to small business owners. Now isn’t the time to get complacent, but to fight harder for freedom, justice, and for every American to be able to attain the American dream,” he said in a release.
“That is why I am committed to fighting against government overreach and for the preservation of the freedom that makes our country great. I look forward to asking all the voters of the 7th district—old and new—for their vote, and I will give 100% of my energy to helping every Tennessean in this district to use his or her God-given abilities to fulfill the potential given to them.”
Green has remained active on the legislative front, introducing numerous bills. For example, an amended version of Green’s amendment was included in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which prohibits a dishonorable discharge for individuals in the military who refuse the coronavirus vaccine.
Most recently, he authored a bill that aims to keep schools throughout the country open. The Keep Schools Open Act would mandate in-person learning in order for schools to receive federal funding.
