Former U.S. President Donald Trump held a rally Saturday in Perry, where he introduced the candidates he wants Georgia voters to help elect in the 2022 elections.
“One year from now Georgia will be a central battleground in our fight to rescue our beloved nation,” Trump told the audience.
“There are great, great people running, and many of them are right here.”
Trump first introduced U.S. Representative Jody Hice (R-GA-10), who wants to replace current Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.
“Jody is running against one of the worst secretaries of states in America, RINO Brad Raffensperger, who is trying to turn the tables on me because I am fighting for election integrity,” Trump said.
“He [Hice] is a Congressman. He is in a district where he wins easily. He said ‘I have to do this for the good of my state. For the good of my country.’ Here is a congressman who is loved in his district who has no problems and can be there forever. He wants to do this because what has happened to the state of Georgia is a disgrace.”
Trump then introduced Georgia State Senator Burt Jones (R-Jackson). Jones declared his candidacy for Georgia’s lieutenant governor position last month. Current Georgia Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan declared in May he would not seek a second term. Conservative activist Debbie Dooley said earlier this year that Duncan betrayed Trump and undermined everything the former president did.
“Thank you so much for the endorsement,” Jones told Trump.
“I can assure you if I had been the lieutenant governor then I would have gotten to the bottom of this thing.”
Trump then introduced Georgia native and former NFL player Herschel Walker. Walker filed paperwork last month to run for the U.S. Senate and replace incumbent U.S. Senator Raphael Warnock (D-GA).
Earlier in the evening, Trump warned the crowed that current U.S. President Joe Biden and members of the Democratic Party “are on their way to turning America into a third world nation.”
“Inflation is skyrocketing. Unemployment is rising at a level that no one can believe. Main streets are being boarded up. Murders are through the roof in Democrat-run cities. Violent gangs are drugged out,” Trump said.
“Vagrants are taking over our big cities. Corruption is rampant. The senior ranks of our military have been politicized. Our leaders are issuing unconstitutional executive mandates. Our country is being turned into a migrant camp.”
Trump also warned that Biden uses the federal government to push a woke agenda, including Critical Race Theory (CRT) upon the United States.
