In a video posted to Tiffany’s Twitter account, he thanked the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for their work in an “impossible situation that’s been foisted on them by the Biden administration.”
Tiffany shared that Fort McCoy is hosting over 13,000 refugees from Afghanistan, despite the fort’s capacity being 10,000. He reported that many refugees are living in tents.
Tiffany blamed the outbreaks of measles, chicken pox, and tuberculosis on the “overcrowding” and “rushing” to get immigrants into the country.
As reported by The Wisconsin Daily Star, the measles cases began being discovered in early September. Fort McCoy had paused their intake of refugees when the first case of measles was initially discovered but it appears that they are again housing more refugees.
“The Biden administration needs to stop this process,” Tiffany said in the video he tweeted out. “Have people wait in safe third countries to have them fully vetted with Special Immigrant Visas rather than being waved in with parole.”
Tiffany also touched on the supply chain issues that have impacted Wisconsin schools as well as Fort McCoy. Tiffany said that the supply chain issues have been made worse because of the 13,000 refugees living at Fort McCoy.
“The Biden administration has failed the people of our country with how they have handled the Afghanistan situation over in Afghanistan and now in America,” he said. “They need to stop sending people in at this point and make sure that we’re not having communicable diseases being spread into America.”
Tiffany has been actively working to understand issues facing Fort McCoy as they resettle refugees coming in from Afghanistan. He has been outspoken regarding how the Biden administration has been handling the insurgence of Afghans.
As reported by The Daily Star, “Wisconsin Representative Tom Tiffany shared concerns in a Fox News interview about Afghan refugees coming and going from Fort McCoy unsupervised. Tiffany visited Fort McCoy, a base hosting Afghan refugees, in late August.”
Tiffany also wrote a letter to the Biden administration asking for answers regarding the vetting process the Afghan refugees are undergoing.
His letter reads, “The American people have repeatedly been assured by the Biden administration that Afghan nationals are being ‘fully vetted,’ despite thousands of individuals – many without visas or even basic identity documents – clearing screening procedures that normally take months or years in just days or weeks.”
