The House Democrats moved on Tuesday to strip funding for Israel’s Iron Dome defense system from the Continuing Resolution.
Gallagher called the move a “complete disgrace,” saying that the Iron Dome is Israel’s “best line of defense.” Gallagher also emphasized the bipartisan support that the Iron Dome system has had in the past, stating that this was a radical shift.
A press release from Gallagher said, “Earlier this year, Hamas fired thousands of missiles into Israel and led a violent campaign against Israeli civilians. The Iron Dome – which has long enjoyed bipartisan support – proved to be Israel’s best line of defense from these attacks and saved thousands of innocent lives.”
Gallagher went on to say that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi “caved” to “radical, anti-Israel” members of the House, indirectly referencing policy makers like Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN-05) and Rashida Tliab (D-MI-13). Omar, Tlaib, and others were the ones calling for the funding for the Iron Dome to be removed, calling Israel a “human rights abuser.”
Some lawmakers said that removing the funding for the Iron Dome was rooted in the “desire to attack something … related to the State of Israel.”
Gallagher said, “It’s a complete disgrace that Speaker Pelosi caved to radical, anti-Israel elements within her caucus and stripped funding for this critical system from the Continuing Resolution.”
He finished his statement by saying, “Speaker Pelosi clearly doesn’t run her caucus anymore. The Squad does.”
Wisconsin Representative Thomas Tiffany (R-WI-07) also voiced his displeasure with the decision, tweeting that Pelosi “caved to the Hamas fan club.”
Unfortunate to see @SpeakerPelosi cave to the Hamas fan club and de-fund Israel's Iron Dome.#StandWithIsrael https://t.co/EjQbf48VPY

None of Wisconsin’s other congressional delegates had anything to say publicly regarding the situation.
