More than a dozen Republican governors across the country slammed President Joe Biden on Thursday for issuing vaccine mandates to workers in both the public and private sector.
Biden announced on Thursday that his administration and the Department of Labor plan to require all businesses with more than 100 employees to require COVID-19 vaccinations or weekly testing, potentially affecting approximately 100 million Americans.
Further, if a business does not comply, they could face thousands of dollars of fees from the federal government.
Immediately, critics, legal scholars, and elected leaders questioned the constitutionality of the move by the Biden administration.
“The American Dream has turned into a nightmare under President Biden and the radical Democrats. They have declared war against capitalism, thumbed their noses at the Constitution, and empowered our enemies abroad,” said South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster. Masters also pledged to fight the order.

The move is seemingly opposite of what Biden pledged before becoming president. In December, Biden stated that he didn’t “think it should be mandatory” and “wouldn’t demand it to be mandatory.”
“How could we get to the point in this country where you would not let them earn a living because of their choice on the vaccine? I just think that’s fundamentally wrong. I do not believe that people should lose their jobs over this issue, and we will fight that,” questioned Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a constant critic of Biden.

“I have been consistent in the freedom of businesses to require their employees to be vaccinated, and I have opposed the government from saying businesses cannot exercise that freedom,” Hutchinson added in a statement. “The same principle should protect the private sector from government overreach that requires them to vaccinate all employees.”
