Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday endorsed Michigan State Representative Steve Carra (R-Three Rivers) in his campaign to represent Michigan’s 6th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Carra has launched a GOP primary challenge against Representative Fred Upton (R-MI-06), one of the ten lawmakers in the House to vote to impeach Trump.
“It is my great honor to endorse Michigan State Representative Steve Carra to oppose RINO Congressman Fred Upton. Upton has not done the job that our Country needs, for years has talked about leaving office and not running again, and he voted for Impeachment of the President of the United States on rigged up charges. He doesn’t deserve to keep his seat,” Trump said of Upton.
Upton, who has held his position for more than two decades, has not formally announced that he will seek an additional term.
In addition to slamming Upton, Trump praised Carra for his record in the state legislature and his positions on key issues, awarding Carra a “Complete and Total Endorsement.”
“Steve Carra, on the other hand, is strong on Crime, Borders, and loves our Military and our Vets. Steve will continue to fight for Low Taxes and all of the other things that the Great people of Michigan want and need. Steve Carra has my Complete and Total Endorsement!,” Trump continued.
Furthermore, Carra has repeatedly called for an audit of the state’s November 2020 election elections results, a move supported by Trump.
“It is an honor to be endorsed by President Donald J. Trump in my race for Congress. I am running to replace RINO, Anti-Trumper Fred Upton and serve as a conservative fighter for Michigan’s 6th District in Congress,” Carra said of the Trump endorsement.
