MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace on Friday likened President Trump and millions of his supporters to domestic terrorists while fondly reminiscing about the days when American citizens overseas were killed by drone strikes during the global war on terror.

Wallace, who served the Bush White House as Communications Director in 2005 and 2006, made the comments during an MSNBC panel discussion about the impeachment trial of former President Trump.

Wallace described the widely held beliefs that the 2020 election was rigged and that draconian Covid restrictions are unnecessary, as “ideologies” that incite domestic terrorism.

“There is until the end of April a persistent threat of domestic extremism,” Wallace said. “Domestic terrorism carried out in the ideology of and around this belief that the election was fraudulent, that the Covid restrictions are unnecessary—all of those ideologies pushed by Donald Trump.”

Wallace brought up the Bush/Obama era policy of droning suspected terrorists overseas, which she described as “attacking terrorism at its root.”

While admitting that the policy was “controversial,” the anchor went on to note that United States citizens were killed by drone strikes ordered by then-president Obama “for the crime of inciting violence, inciting terrorism.”

Anwar Al-Awlaki, a Yemeni- American imam was killed by a drone strike on September 30, 2011, and his son, Abdulrahman al-Awlaki, a 16-year-old U.S. citizen, was also killed in a U.S. drone strike two weeks later.

Somehow, to Wallace’s way of thinking, this is a material fact in the case against Trump.

“Mitch McConnell was in the Senate then, he was in the Senate after 9-11 too,” Wallace noted, before arguing that McConnell knows better than anybody that the way you “root out terrorism” is to “kill those who incite it.”

“How does Mitch McConnell, who understands that the way you root out terrorism is to take on—in the case of Islamic terrorism—kill those who incite it—how does he not vote to convict someone that he said on the floor of the Senate incited an insurrection?” she asked the MSNBC panelists.

While Wallace included the qualifier, “in the case of Islamic extremists,” in her rant, it’s clear that she lumps former president Trump and his supporters in a category of dangerous domestic terrorists who need to be dealt with harshly.
