GF Casting Solutions, a producer of lightweight components for the mobility and energy sectors, will invest over $184 million in a new manufacturing facility in Augusta Corporate Park. The facility, which the company said will start operations in 2027, is slated to bring 350 additional jobs to Richmond County.

“Georgia is proud to carry the title of the No. 1 state for business to companies across the globe, bringing opportunities to communities in every corner of the state,” Governor Brian Kemp said in a statement Friday.

A division of Georg Fischer AG, Schaffhausen (Switzerland), the Swiss company creates “aluminum, magnesium, iron, and super alloy parts for light vehicles, trucks, aerospace, energy, off-highway vehicles, and industrial applications.”

The new LEED-certified, state-of-the-art facility in Augusta will develop cast aluminum parts primarily for the automotive industry.

Kemp stated, “Having met the great team at GF Casting Solutions during our recent mission to Switzerland, we could not be more excited to welcome them to the Peach State. Congratulations to Augusta and Richmond County for securing these jobs of the future for Georgians.”

Calling the project “a very long-term investment,” Carlos Vasto, President of GF Casting Solutions, said the High Pressure Die Casting Facility “will complete our footprint to become truly global in the e-mobility market.”

“We are looking forward to bringing leading technology to the US and to creating advanced manufacturing jobs for several generations in Georgia,” Vasto added. “The location is ideal for addressing the thriving automotive industry in the region.”

“The City and the Development Authority have worked to make this a premier industrial park in the Southeast United States with our investment in water, sewer, roads, and growing our workforce,” Augusta Mayor Garnett Johnson said. “We truly appreciate the partners we have and look forward to a long and prosperous location by GF over the coming years.”

According to Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) Commissioner Pat Wilson, “GF Casting Solutions is one of many fantastic companies we have worked with through our connections in Europe, facilitated by our physical presence with the State of Georgia’s Europe Office.”

“European companies demonstrate a wealth of business experience, going back centuries in the case of GF, combined with an intentional focus on innovation that is driving the market forward,” Wilson explained. “Congratulations to Augusta and Richmond County, our partners, and GF Casting Solutions for this exciting opportunity!”

GF Casting Solutions will hire for its manufacturing and automation positions at the Augusta facility over the next few years.

Since 2018, GDEcD has championed more than $27.3 billion of investments in the e-mobility industry.

The state aims to attract more investment to become the nation’s “capital of EV manufacturing.”

Companies with an existing e-mobility presence in Georgia include Kia, Hyundai Motor Group, Rivian, Caterpillar, SK Battery America, Yamaha Motor Manufacturing, Dongwon Tech, Duckyang America, Aspen Aerogels, Club Car, GEDIA, JCB, Heliox, Blue Bird Corporation, TEKLAS, and Textron.
