New data shows that less than a quarter of young people own their own home, as the housing affordability crisis is actually worse than it seems. A new way to measure America’s homeownership rates, done by the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, found that for adults under 35, only 22% are homeowners, according to Axios.

When the Biden Justice Department announced that Chinese hackers had gotten their hands on Great Britain's publicly available voter files in 2024, American news media clamored with stories claiming it was a "dangerous" breach. The same, too, when U.S. officials announced Russia and Iran had hacked small numbers of U.S. voter files in 2020 and 2021. The reason was simple: U.S. intelligence agencies believe the targeting and acquisition of voter registration files is an act of election interference. “Election interference is a subset of election influence targeted at the technical aspects of the election, including voter registration, casting and counting of ballots and reporting of results," an October 2020 National intelligence Council report on election interference explains.

The Trump administration is deferring over $1 billion in federal Medicaid payments to California and Minnesota as part of its ongoing healthcare fraud crackdown, Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced Tuesday. Kennedy said during a press conference that HHS is “not sending Medicaid or Medicare dollars out the door until we have confidence that they are being spent lawfully and appropriately.” The payment deferrals aim to advance the Trump administration’s ongoing “effort to combat fraud, waste, and abuse in Medicaid and safeguard federal taxpayer dollars,” HHS said in a news release.

A Michigan appeals court on Monday overturned two more convictions related to the 2020 kidnapping plot of Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, ruling that it was obligated to overturn the convictions based on precedent. Pete Musico and Paul Bellar were previously convicted of providing material support for an act of terrorism in the plot, alongside Joseph Morrison, whose conviction was overturned by a different appeals panel last month.

Democratic New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill said Tuesday that over 6,000 non-citizens were mistakenly added to her state’s voter rolls due to a “serious software error.” Sherrill said in a statement that last week, she discovered a software error in the state’s Motor Vehicles Commission (MVC) had “led to the registration of roughly 6,600 people who indicated that they were not U.S. citizens between June 2023 and June 2024, almost three years prior to my taking office.” She added that the individuals had “answered ‘no’ when asked on a keypad whether they were a U.S. citizen when applying for drivers’ licenses and identification cards, but through no fault of their own, the system registered them anyway.”
