Georgia Republican Party (GAGOP) Chair Josh McKoon on Friday announced that former Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan will be permanently banned from attending any of the state party’s events, including conventions and caucuses, after Duncan endorsed President Joe Biden, then Vice President Kamala Harris.
McKoon additionally confirmed the GAGOP will issue a resolution condemning Duncan for his “self serving and hypocritical behavior” and “expelling” him from the Republican Party. Also, the GAGOP State Executive Committee “will consider action to permanently ban” Duncan from qualifying as a Republican candidate in the Peach State.
In his open letter to Duncan, posted to the social media platform X, the GAGOP chairman demanded Duncan “cease referring to yourself as a Republican.”
McKoon wrote, “your desperate and ridiculous endorsements of Joe Biden and now Kamala Harris for President, coupled with your inexplicable opposition in 2022 to Burt Jones and Herschel Walker, not to mention your comical attempt to run for President as an independent candidate, are violations of the oaths of loyalty you repeatedly swore when you qualified as a Republican candidate for office.”

Dear Mr. Duncan:
In a life otherwise devoid of accomplishment (e.g. dropping out of college, failing as a minor league baseball player, starting a series of sketchy businesses), your nominations by the Republican Party were…

Duncan endorsed Harris after her first 2024 campaign stop in Georgia as a presidential candidate.
“Let’s beat Donald Trump the best possible way we can,” Duncan reportedly stated. “If that takes me endorsing her, if that takes me voting for her, if that takes me speaking at a convention, so be it.” He previously endorsed Biden before the 81-year-old dropped out of the race.
In total, McKoon revealed the GAGOP is taking four actions against Duncan, with the party planning to urge the Republican National Committee “to adopt a resolution permanently banning [Duncan] from the Republican Party,” as well as banning Duncan from qualifying as Republican “in any state or territory for any position whatsoever.”
Should Duncan (pictured above) attempt to flaunt his ban from GAGOP events, McKoon stated he would be criminally trespassed.
“You will be treated as a trespasser should you attend any event, meeting, caucus or convention of the Georgia Republican Party,” he said.
McKoon continued, “Every county Republican Party and Congressional District Party in the state of Georgia will be requested to issue you the same warning and condition.”
In his own open letter, Duncan described McKoon as a Trump boot licker.
Duncan wrote to McKoon, “you have decided to lick the boots of Donald Trump, a man who spent most of his life registered as a Democrat.”
He further wrote, despite Harris being called the most liberal presidential candidate in history, “I sleep soundly every night comfortable with not only my conservative credentials but also the knowledge that I don’t wake up every day hoping I won’t have to defend the indefensible conduct of a morally bankrupt man who couldn’t pick you out of a police lineup, even if he tried.”
Trump continues to boast a small lead in Georgia in the RealClearPolling aggregate of data, which shows the former president with a 1.2 percent advantage.
